For

's Kate Beckinsale contest. Participating in contests is really fun . . . I don't expect to get anywhere with it, of course, among absolutely amazing entries.

But I really enjoy being part of them.

I spent a lot of time on this . . . and I really enjoyed doing it! In fact, I've worked harder on this portrait than any other I've done. I believe I started a few days after the contest was announced. Kate is absolutely gorgeous. It was also quite fun to get to improvise something for the background as part of the creativity element of the contest.

I decided to scan since I wanted the proportions to look right. Unfortunately, I lost very much of the shading in doing so. Here is a photograph that more accurately depicts the shading:
