Empire of the Sun by JenniferTheFirst Empire of the Sun by JenniferTheFirst
This was just an experiment - my first time working with pastels since maybe . . . elementary school. Don't care much for it. If I had wanted it to turn out well, I would have used colored pencils.

Ah yes, I WAS going to upload another scrap - of Patrick Bateman with a funny, flustered expression on his face. But it was so bad, not even scrap-worthy that I decided not to.

I hate using pastels!! I really like this a lot though, sometimes even experiments turn out well.

And thank you as well.
Seriously though, the way you used pastels is remarkable.

My loopy SS teacher made us watch this last year. I enjoyed it quite a bit- Christian Bale was adorable.

I like the contrast between the sun and the b/w monochrome. The sun's very smoothly colored- pastels, did you say? And, oh wow, the smoke curl is UH-MAZING. Water blending, maybe?

Overall, major props~

Pastels only. And a bit of pencil for the details on the kid. Thanks very much! It's simply the movie poster. And yeah, I love the movie. Little Bale was BRILLIANT.

Ugh, I have trouble with dry pastels; smudges...everywhere...*eyetwitch*
Bale was great as a kid, and now that he's all growed-up, MAN is he the smex!
